Sachin falls in the 'Nervous Nineties' again
Sachin Tendulkar yet again came agonizingly close to registering his 100th International hundred, only to fall short of the mark by six runs when he fell to Ravi Rampaul on Day 4 of the 3rd Test between India and West Indies.
This is the second time Sachin Tendulkar has fallen in the nineties in Test cricket this year - the previous occasion was the 91 he scored against England in the Oval Test in August.
Overall, Tendulkar has been dismissed ten times in the nineties in Test matches. Four of those scores have come against England while two such scores are against West Indies.
Sachin's dismissals in nineties in Tests:
If one looks at the number of nineties scored by Sachin Tendulkar in ODIs, it is a strikingly big number. He has been dismissed in the 90s seventeen times and he has one not-out score too. And agonizingly enough for him, three of the dismissals have come when he was on 99.
Sachin's nineties in ODIs:
Sachin Tendulkar has been dismissed the most number of times in the nineties in ODIs while he shares the dubious distinction - Steve Waugh and Rahul Dravid being the others - for being dismissed in the nineties on most occasions in Tests. He thus tops the overall list for most dismissals in the 90s for Tests and ODIs combined.
Most nineties overall:
Cricket fans around the world will be hoping that Tendulkar soon reaches the 100-ton mark and that he does not add any more to his list of scores in the nineties. Tendulkar himself will be relieved if he reaches the mark as soon as possible so that he can play his natural game without having the thought of the hundredth ton cluttering his mind.
