BCCI announces four new international venues
Mumbai: The BCCI has awarded international matches to four new venues – Dharamsala, Pune, Rajkot and Ranchi – during India’s home series against England between November 2012 and January 2013. Pune’s Sahara Roy Sahara Stadium will host a Twenty20 match during England’s tour later this year, followed by one-day internationals in Rajkot, Dharamsala and Ranchi, the board announced after a meeting of its tour, programme and fixtures committee in Mumbai. It was also announced that New Zealand will tour India for two Test matches and two Twenty20s between August and September, with the dates to be confirmed at a later date. The Tests will be held in Hyderabad and Bangalore, and the two Twenty20s in Visakhapatnam and Chennai.England will tour from November to January, playing four Tests, five ODIs and two Twenty20s. Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Nagpur will host the Tests; Rajkot, Dharamsala, Ranchi, Mohali and Kochi the ODIs; and Pune and Mumbai the Twenty20s. Following that series, India will host Australia for four Test matches in Chennai, Delhi, Kanpur and Mohali.
In January, the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala had been approved by the ICC to host international ODIs and Twenty20 matches. Rajkot, Pune and Ranchi are ready for approval, said the BCCI in an email. The BCCI will finalize the exact schedule for each series.
