Injured AB de Villiers ruled out of CL T20

South African franchisee Titans were served a severe blow ahead of the T20 Cricket League as Proteas ODI and T20I skipper AB de Villiers was ruled out of the tournament with multiple injuries. de Villiers sustained two injuries during the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka and will now undergo treatment to ensure he makes the national team for the tour to Australia which starts next month.

The 28 year old sustained lower back and ankle injuries which ruled him out of the multi-starrer tournament. He became the second Titans player to be ruled out of the tourney with Marchant de Lange being ruled out last month with a back injury.

South Africa manager Mohammed Moosajee said the skipper needed rest and rehabilitation for 3-4 weeks but should be fit for the three-test series in Australia, which starts on Nov. 9.

Moosajee added that the injuries are worse than before, but "if we manage him properly he'll be fine ... if we don't manage him it'll be a problem."

Titans will play Australian side Perth Scorchers in the tournament opener on the 13th of October.
