Shakib Al Hasan back in Bangladesh Test squad

Shakib Al Hasan is back in Bangladesh's Test squadBangladesh's Test squad will be bolstered by the return of Shakib Al Hasan for the two Test series against Zimbabwe which starts on April 17th. Shakib missed the two Test series in Sri Lanka last month due to a stress fracture on his right shin, which needed surgery. The all-rounder is back to fitness at the moment but as a precautionary measure, he will play only as a batsman in the first Test.

"Shakib will play as a batsman in the first Test. Whether he will bowl or not is up to whether he recovers in time, but he will definitely be ready to bowl in the second Test match." said Bangladesh's chief selector Akram Khan.

Bangladesh have also retained pacer Shahadat Hossain, despite poor form. He played the Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and picked up only one wicket. He has taken 70 wickets in his 35 match Test career, at a very poor average of 51.90. Akram Khan said that his selection was more due to lack of options than anything else.

"Shahadat is a Test specialist so we want to continue with him. We are having a shortage of pace bowlers, so we need him to perform."

Sajidul Islam, a left arm pacer who made his debut in New Zealand in 2008, has also been brought back into the side. Abul Hasan has been ruled out of the tour due to a back injury.

"Sajidul has made a return after doing well in the Bangladesh Cricket League lately. He has been one of the pace bowlers training in the Academy over the last month while the senior side was in Sri Lanka," said Akram.

Shahriar Nafees and Enamul Haque have recovered from their injuries and are back in the side. Opener Tamim Iqbal features in the squad despite a thumb injury, and he is expected to be fit at least for the second Test. Anamul Haque has taken a break from cricket as he has to attend his college exams.
