India wins 5 match series 4-1;manoj scores his maiden ODI Ton

Walking in on a hat-trick ball, Manoj Tiwary displayed a cool temperament and played pleasing shots to notch up
his maiden ODI century. Photo: K. PichumaniManoj Tiwary's mai den ODI century scored over Kieron Pollard's as India registered a 34-run win over the West Indies in the fifth and final ODI at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday. The victory gave India the series 4-1.
The 26-year-old Tiwary (104, 126b, 10x4, 1x6), playing his sixth ODI, and Virat Kohli (80, 85b, 5x4) helped India post 267 for six — after the team lost two wickets in the first over — following stand-in skipper Gautam Gambhir decision to bat.
In pursuit, the West Indies folded in the 45th over for 233, despite Pollard's ruthless six-hitting spree that saw him clearing the ropes 10 times.
Irfan Pathan's first-ball strike and a couple of contentious decisions saw the West Indian chase stalled on 78 for five in the 16th over, before Pollard (119) and Andre Russell (53) — who was dropped by Parthiv Patel on 35 — brought it back on track.
Crucial dismissal
The two added 89 in 79 balls for the sixth wicket and the West Indies needed 101 to win in 21.1 overs when Russell was run out at the striker's end by a Gambhir throw from short third man — a dismissal that strangulated the chase.
Skipper Darren Sammy did his side no favours by edging Ravindra Jadeja to point after having wasted 14 balls for three runs. Pollard, six of whose ten sixes came off Jadeja, was left to rally the tail around him.
He was fortuitous to get his first ODI century. The team was nine down and Pollard on 99 when Kohli dropped him at the long-on boundary, the resultant four giving the West Indian his hundred.
Pollard was finally the last man out when he went for his 11th six and was caught well by Rahane at long off.
Earlier, Tiwary featured in two stands that took the initiative away from the West Indies. He added 83 with Gambhir (31) for the third wicket and collaborated for 117 in 18.5 overs with Kohli for the fourth wicket.
The partnership ended when the centurion retired with cramps, a ball after reaching his landmark in the 38th over.
Like in Ahmedabad — when Ravi Rampaul pegged back the chase with a double blow in the second over — India started in a similarly wretched manner at Chepauk with two first-ball ducks.
Kemar Roach thundered in with the new ball and trapped comeback man Ajinkya Rahane (in for Virender Sehwag) on the second ball of the innings with one that kept a shade low. Parthiv Patel played on next ball to leave the home team two down in three balls.
Tiwary played out the hat-trick ball with a measure of safety and continued to eschew risks as Gambhir and he took things ahead. The Delhi left-hander was out leg-before to Martin in the 19th over, and soon after Tiwary brought up his fifty.
India's 150 came up in the 31st over before Tiwary and Kohli added 100 runs for the fourth wicket in 99 balls. The Bengal batsman eased an inside-out six off Sunil Narine, the most economical of the West Indies' bowlers, to reach his highest List A score (96) and a couple of overs later glanced the same bowler to the fine-leg fence to reach his first ODI, and List A, hundred in 125 balls.
Tiwary retired hurt the very next ball, ending his partnership with Kohli was replaced by Rohit Sharma.
Kohli and Rohit added 40 in 7.2 overs before the former got out on 80 failing to clear long-on against Martin in the 46th over.
Narine (10-1-41-1) bowled a maiden to Irfan Pathan in the 49th over and India's innings culminated at 267 for six.

New Zealand stuns Australia with 7-run win

New Zealand's Chris Martin appeals for LBW against Australian Usman Khawaja on the fourth day of the second Test match in Hobard on Monday.New Zealand produced a stunning seven-run victory to claim its first test win in Australia since 1985, with Doug Bracewell triggering a batting collapse and taking the final wicket on Monday to square the two-test series.
The 21-year-old paceman finished with 6-40 from 16.4 overs as Australia was dismissed for 233 chasing 241 to win, losing its last eight wickets for 74 runs.
"I’m just ecstatic and really proud,” New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor said.
The Australians were coasting at 159-2 on day four before Bracewell removed ex-skipper Ricky Ponting (16), then Michael Clarke and Mike Hussey for ducks in quick succession, sparking a collapse which saw the home team slump to 199-9.
Opener David Warner, who carried his bat with an unbeaten 123, combined with Nathan Lyon (9) for a 10th wicket stand that almost salvaged victory for the hosts but the No. 11 having survived two reviews for lbw was bowled by Bracewell to end the game.
Warner’s impressive performance was overshadowed by another dismal performance by Australia’s top order that will almost certainly cost opener Phil Hughes his spot and raises even more questions over the test futures of veterans Ponting and Hussey.
It was a phenomenal comeback for New Zealand to square the series at 1-1 after losing the opener at Brisbane last week by nine wickets.
Bracewell took the three key middle-order wickets in two overs just before lunch and then another two in one over at the start of the last session as Australia lost four wickets in 10 balls.
Australia went to lunch at 173-5 with Warner and Brad Haddin as the last pair of established batsmen.
Tim Southee sparked a slide with two wickets in the 55th over to dismiss Haddin (15) and Peter Siddle (2), both edging into the slips cordon, as Australia slumped to 194-7.
When Bracewell struck twice in the next over to dismiss James Pattinson and Mitchell Starc, Australia’s first test loss ever at Bellerive Oval appeared certain.
Big—hitting Warner and Lyon whittled the target from 42 runs to single figures in a dogged stand that displayed Warner’s maturity, warranting his selection.
The Australians resumed on the fourth day at 72 without loss and didn’t add a run before Hughes (20) was dismissed by Chris Martin for the fourth time this series edging to Martin Guptill at second slip for the second time in the match.
Hughes was under intense pressure to hold his spot as critics targeted deficiencies in his technique outside off stump that have resulted in him being caught behind the wicket in two—thirds of his innings.
While Hughes has struggled, Warner appears to have secured his spot for the four—test series against India starting Dec. 26.
He gave only one half—chance, when he edged through slip to raise his maiden test half century. Warner, who made his test debut last week at the Gabba and has a reputation for being a big—hitting limited—overs specialist, scored 47 from 50 balls on Sunday but took 15 further deliveries to reach 50. He curbed his attacking instinct as his innings progressed, with his 123 coming off 170 balls and containing 14 boundaries.
Warner shared a 50—run second—wicket partnership with Usman Khawaja (23) caught at slip off Trent Boult and then put on 37 for the third wicket with Ponting until Bracewell came back into the attack and triggered a middle—order collapse.
The 36—year—old Ponting got off the mark with a boundary in what will be his last test innings in his home state and didn’t appear to be troubled by the bowling until he miscued a good-length ball from Bracewell and popped an easy catch to Tim Southee at extra cover to make the total 159—3. It extended Ponting’s drought to 31 innings since his last test century a 209 against Pakistan here in January 2010.
Skipper Clarke tried to drive at an away singer and edged to Taylor at slip and then Hussey was trapped lbw on the next ball after Taylor asked for a review of umpire Asad Rauf’s not out decision. The TV umpire decided the ball pitched on line and would have hit leg stump and overturned the call.
Haddin survived the hat—trick ball but the three quick strikes gave New Zealand the upper hand with Australia having a longer than usual lower order.

India won the 4th ODI and won the series 3-1

Bhagya PrakashIndia crushed the West Indies by 153 runs in the fourth cricket one-dayer to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match ODI series here on Thursday.
Earlier, flamboyant Indian batsman Virender Sehwag created history on Thursday by becoming the highest scorer ever in a one-day innings, and the second cricketer after team-mate Sachin Tendulkar to score a double century in the fourth ODI against the West Indies here.
Sehwag smashed his way into the record books with his stupendous 219, surpassing Tendulkar’s 200 not out against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24 last year.
This remarkable achievement gives Sehwag the unique distinction of being India’s top scorer in both Tests and ODIs. He had scored 319 against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.
The dashing opener reached the double century when he square—cut Andre Russell for a boundary in the 44th over of the Indian innings, setting off wild celebrations in the stands and dressing room at the jam—packed Holkar Stadium.
He faced 140 balls and hit 23 fours and six sixes in his marathon innings. Tendulkar had made his 200 not out from 147 balls.
Sehwag punched the air with his right hand after reaching his double century before Rohit Sharma embraced him. He raised both his hands to acknowledge the cheers from the crowd.
The spectators in the stadium stood on their feet to applaud Sehwag’s stupendous feat while his colleagues in the dressing also gave him a standing ovation.
Sehwag then hit a few more lusty shots, one four and a six, before finally getting out to a tired—looking shot off Kieron Pollard in the 47th over. He faced 149 balls and hit 25 fours and seven sixes in his 219.
Just as he walked back to the pavillion, non—striker Rohit Sharma was the first to hug him before all the West Indies players one after another came to congratulate him on his way back.
Sehwag raised his hands towards the spectators and then turned again to acknowledge their cheers as he finally left the ground after a record innings.
Sehwag was dropped when on 170, with West Indies captain Darren Sammy missing out on a sitter.
Except for the ‘life’ gifted by Sammy in the 38th over, it was a vintage Sehwag, who played his shots in his characteristic swashbuckling fashion on a belter of a pitch.
Incidentally, it was the same Samundar Singh Chauhan, the curator in Gwalior when Tendulkar scored his 200 not out, who prepared the Holkar Stadium pitch on which Sehwag made the highest score in an ODI innings today.
Also, both the double centuries in ODI history were scored in Madhya Pradesh, and on a pitch prepared by the same curator.
During his record breaking innings, Sehwag, who made his ODI debut in 1999 against Pakistan, also went past 8,000 run mark, at an aggregate of 8025 runs from 240 matches. He has scored 14 hundreds and 37 fifties in ODIs before today’s match.
He is the sixth Indian to have scored more than 8,000 runs in ODIs after Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin and Yuvraj Singh.
In Test cricket, Sehwag has scored 22 hundreds, including two triple tons, and 30 half centuries. He has scored 7,980 runs from 92 Tests at an average of 52.15 after making his debut in 2001 against South Africa.

Ind Vs West ind Match report :WI won by 16 runs

BREATHING FIRE: Ravi Rampaul is ecstatic after trapping Gautam Gambhir in front. Photo: K. Bhagya Prakash
West Indies speedster Ravi Rampaul had a great start and a dream finish to his spell as the West Indies kept its hopes alive with a 16-run win in the third ODI at the Sardar Patel Stadium here on Monday.
Rampaul dismissed Indian skipper Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir off the first two balls of his spell at the beginning of the innings. He removed the off-colour Suresh Raina in his second spell before nailing the aggressive Abhimanyu Mithun to signal victory for his side.
Wickets fell in quick fashion at the start of the Indian innings and it took another special effort from the classy Rohit Sharma to help his team stay afloat.
Rohit, full of confidence after playing two match-winning knocks in the first two games, looked in terrific touch. He lofted debutant leg-spinner Sunil Narine — who was quite impressive — with effortless ease over the extra-cover boundary.
Rohit (95) was run out off a direct throw from West Indies skipper Darren Sammy, who had dropped the Indian batsman early on in his innings. Though Mithun struck a couple of meaty blows and Umesh Yadav provided him good support, ‘man of the match' Rampaul came back to wrap things up by dismissing the Karnataka speedster.
Earlier, a furious offensive by Sammy and Andre Russell propelled the West Indies to a competitive 260 for five, after the innings had failed to gain momentum in the initial and middle stages
Sammy (41, 17b, 5x4, 2x6) and Russell (40, 18b, 4x4, 2x6) came together at 181 for five in the 45th over — after the set batsmen Denesh Ramdin (38) and Kieron Pollard (29) had departed in successive overs — and wreaked havoc on India's pacemen with a partnership of 79 in 34 balls.
Severe on Mithun
Choosing to have a go at everything, the duo destroyed the length and full-toss offerings of the seamers as they returned for their final spells.
Sammy was especially severe on Abhimanyu Mithun, who replaced Varun Aaron, as he tore into him for 23 runs in the 49th over, including an unreal six over cover.
Not to be outdone, Russell made the last over, bowled by Yadav, count for 20, taking the tally from the last five to 73.
The sedate, almost blasé, start scarcely indicated the blizzard-like finish.
Virender Sehwag elected to field and Umesh (3-0-5-0) and Vinay Kumar (6-1-20-1) kept things in control.
Darren Bravo (26) added 55 in 12.5 overs for the third wicket with Marlon Samuels before retiring with a hamstring injury, further disadvantaging a team struggling with the bat and playing a batsman short, the ‘mystery' spinner Narine having replaced opener Adrian Barath.
Utilising Power Plays
Samuels (58, 93b, 5x4, 1x6) made the bowling PowerPlay (16-20) count with some dazzling boundaries off Umesh and reached his 22nd ODI 50 off 78 balls. It was finally left to Sammy and Russell to hammer the living daylights out of the Indian attack.
